The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Pennsylvania are often more forgiving than in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The scenic beauty of Pennsylvania and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.     If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The starting location is a short drive from Lock Haven, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river,   but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: While staying at Slate Run you could always explore Putt Hollow, and don't leave without going to Leonard Harrison State Park. While you're here at Slate Run you can take a hike along the Slide Hollow Trail, and there are plenty of people from Jersey Mills here at Slate Run. This river is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Fill Trestle Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. A tremendous site like Ole Bull State Park right next door to Slate Run is too wonderful to leave out.
