The starting location is a short drive from Somerset, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as     well. The scenic beauty of Pennsylvania and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Pennsylvania you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Briefly about the general   area: Stonycreek River is right by the Roger Mountain Trail; Stonycreek River is not far at all from Hollsopple.
