  The beautiful scenery of York County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. If you're coming from Lancaster it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section of Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III+ section of whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park
    your RV at a nearby campground. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so
you'd better keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Holtwood stretch is just one of them. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has  
a large number of paddling rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
Rocks State Park is worth visiting if you're at Susquehanna River, and going for a hike along the Camp Echo Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. There are plenty of folks from Holtwood here at Susquehanna River. The warmest time of the year at Susquehanna River arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Susquehanna River.
