Susquehanna stretch of White Deer Creek in Union County is 17.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The wonderful Union County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down White Deer Creek make the trip here worthwhile.     The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other spots for that. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Lewisburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not   pack your camp stove too. Briefly about the general area: The Lyman Gap Trail is a perfect hiking trail in close proximity to White Deer Creek, and lots of people from Allenwood come here. Near White Deer Creek you discover the Kettle Hole Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. The yearly rainfall here at White Deer Creek is about average. The wettest month of the year is generally June, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month is January. During the summertime at White Deer Creek temperatures are usually in the 70's.
