  If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. The nature scenery of Somerset County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The Glencoe to Ellerslie section of Wills Creek in Pennsylvania is 18.7 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according
    to American Whitewater. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nearby hotels are
a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a short drive from Cumberland, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either  
way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.

Briefly about the general area:
While you're here at Wills Creek you will meet lots of folks from close by Corriganville, and nice hiking is available along the Old Mail Trail. High temperatures at Wills Creek throughout the summer are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. Highs during the winter are generally in the 30's with temperatures at Wills Creek dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Wills Creek. The month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February.
