The natural beauty of Oconee County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. This river system     has a few good paddling stretches and the Brasstown Road to Yonah Lake section is one of them. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The starting point is not too far from Toccoa, as you can see on the road map further down. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because   these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: While you're here at Brasstown Creek you will meet lots of folks from nearby Long Creek, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Bartram Trail. A great site like Tallulah Gorge State Park near Brasstown Creek is too delightful to leave out, and going for a hike along the Chattooga Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. This is such a fun river. Going to Black Rock Mountain State Park close to Brasstown Creek is a good thing to do. During the warm months at Brasstown Creek temperatures are mostly in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's.
