The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if   you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Briefly about the general area: Go for a hike on the Chattooga Trail, and if you're here you will meet lots of folks from close by Mountain Rest. Man, is there lots of enjoyable things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A spree to Black Rock Mountain State Park when you're here at Chattooga River is never a bad idea, and what would winter be without some skiing at Scaly Mountain. This river is so great. A visit to Oconee State Park when you're here at Chattooga River is a nice idea; don't leave Chattooga River without first going for a hike along the Bartram Trail.
