  The put-in is not too far from Seneca, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Rabun GA / Oconee SC County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in South Carolina are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. When
    you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Great exercise and just hanging
out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The Earls Ford to Route 76 Bridge section of Chattooga River in South Carolina is 13 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III+(IV) section. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if  
you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here.

Briefly about the general area:
Go for a hike on the Chattooga Trail, and if you're here you will meet lots of folks from close by Mountain Rest. Man, is there lots of enjoyable things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A spree to Black Rock Mountain State Park when you're here at Chattooga River is never a bad idea, and what would winter be without some skiing at Scaly Mountain. This river is so great. A visit to Oconee State Park when you're here at Chattooga River is a nice idea; don't leave Chattooga River without first going for a hike along the Bartram Trail.
