  The starting location is a short drive from Toccoa, as you can see on the road map further down. The Route 76 Bridge to Tugaloo Lake Boat Ramp section of Chattooga River in Rabun GA / Oconee SC County is 5.2 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV+(V) section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. There's camping available near Chattooga River. Getting
    a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve
in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in South Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Route 76 Bridge to Tugaloo Lake Boat Ramp stretch is just one of them. The scenic beauty of  
Rabun GA / Oconee SC County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus.

Briefly about the general area:
If you fancy a little side visit, try Woodall Shoals, and Black Rock Mountain State Park is both great and pretty. So much entertaining stuff to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, too great to be true. People from Lakemont love to come to Chattooga River, and the Chattooga Trail offers hiking at its best. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. You definitely should take a look at Tallulah Gorge State Park if you're here at Chattooga River; there's pleasant hiking along the Bartram Trail.
