  The starting point is not too far from Seneca, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful South Carolina scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Chattooga River - East Fork are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The wild scenery of the Blue
    Ridge Mountains is great. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The Walhalla Fish Hatchery to Chattooga section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. If
you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside South Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this  
area has a large number of paddling places.

Briefly about the general area:
If you're visiting Chattooga River - East Fork from Cashiers, you won't be the only one. Francis Marion-Sumter National Forests is a pleasant site; do put some time aside to spend at Spoonauger Falls while you're here at Chattooga River - East Fork. This river has so much to offer. Ellicott Rock is something you shouldn't miss while you're here at Chattooga River - East Fork, and sites like Oconee State Park are nice to check out. Chattooga River - East Fork is right by the Foothills Trail. At Chattooga River - East Fork through the days of summer highs are in the 70's.
