If you're coming from Seneca it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. The natural beauty of South Carolina and the cool     fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This section is quite short so no need to bring snacks. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: You'll meet a lot of people from Long Creek here; hiking along the Burrells Ford Trail is great fun. Everybody loves Oconee State   Park, and you can have a good hiking adventure along the Chattooga Trail. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. Skiing at Scaly Mountain is one of those things you just must do. For the period of the summer, highs commonly are in the 70's at Chauga River. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are frequently in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Chauga River. Much rainfall falls at Chauga River. All through March this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is April.
