This stretch of Double Branch is 0.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Anderson it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Double Branch are pretty good. Whitewater     rafting and kayaking in South Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. The US 178 to State Road 88 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.
