The US 178 to Smith Creek above Lake Keowee section of Eastatoe Creek in South Carolina is 3.52 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV+ section. The average South Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't     forget that many runs in this state are very easy. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother   nature will have you coming back for more. The put-in location is a short drive from Brevard, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: When you're here at Eastatoe Creek it's always fun to take a look at Keowee-Toxaway State Park, and going for a hike on the Art Loeb Trail is always a delightful adventure. All year is a delightful time in the Blue Ridge Mountains if you love the outdoors. Reedy Cove Falls is a nice local attraction, and if you're here, you might as well go to Lays Gap. This is such a wonderful river. Table Rock State Park is a pleasant place to stretch your legs a bit, and there are plenty of people from Sunset here at Eastatoe Creek.
