This stretch of Oilcamp creek in South Carolina is 1.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III(IV) section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in South Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding.     Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Brevard, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're   willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: A tremendous place in the neighborhood of Oilcamp creek is Lower Gap, and Jones Gap State Park is a magnificent site to stretch your legs a bit. So many enjoyable things in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just unbelievable. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Rainbow Falls; going for a hike on the Mullinax Trail is always a great adventure. This river is always fun. Oilcamp creek is right next door to Caesars Head State Park which is a pretty place, and lots of people from Marietta come here.
