The starting location is a reasonable drive from Greenwood, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside
    South Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. This stretch is very short so you'd better be
prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Reedy River are pretty good. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Tumbling Shoals section is one of them.
