  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The beautiful scenery of South Carolina and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're coming from Anderson it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more
    info on that. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.
Rocky River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the High Shoals stretch is the only one. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a very short section so better bring some good walking shoes. This section of Rocky River in Anderson

Briefly about the general area:
High Schoals is always fun to check out, and if you're visiting from Anderson, you won't be the only one. Throughout the summer months at Rocky River highs are usually in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 60's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are usually in the 50's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Rocky River temperatures sink to the 20's. A lot of rain falls at Rocky River. March is the wettest month with most rain while April is typically the driest month.
