Whitewater rafting and kayaking in South Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. This stretch of Saluda River is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-IV section. The starting location is a reasonable     drive from Brevard, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Jones Gap State Park to Gap Creek Road section is just one of many. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly   about the general area: Jones Gap State Park is both good and scenic, and it's near Saluda River; close by you stumble on perfect places like Buck Hollow. Saluda River is in close proximity to Caesars Head State Park which is a stunning location, and Saluda River is a spot with many visitors from Marietta. This is such a fun river. Don't leave Saluda River without first going for a hike along the Mullinax Trail. What would a site like Saluda River be without exciting nearby characteristics like Cleveland Cliff. Saluda River generally gets much rain. March is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is January.
