  The average South Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. The starting point is not too far from Greenville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The County Road 41 to South Saluda River section of Saluda River in South Carolina is 11 miles long and
    has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The County Road 41 to South Saluda River stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The wonderful South Carolina scenery and the playfulness of the  
water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.

Briefly about the general area:
When you're here at Saluda River it's always fun to visit Jones Gap State Park, and folks from Marietta love to come here. Caesars Head State Park is a good place to stretch your legs a bit. Throughout the summer months here at Saluda River, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. Highs during the winter are typically in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Saluda River are in the 20's. Much rain falls at Saluda River. The wettest month of the year is usually March, that's the one that rains the most; January is the month with the least moisture.
