This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for
| that around here. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. you're all set. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Route 89 to Saluda River stretch is just one of them.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave North Saluda River without stopping
by Jones Gap State Park; do put some time aside to spend at McElhenny Shoal since you're here at North Saluda River. You'll meet a lot of folks from Slater here, and a tour here wouldn’t be complete without a journey to
nearby Paris Mountain State Park. This is a great river. The high level of rain makes North Saluda River a reasonably wet place. The month of March is the wettest with most of the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
