  The natural beauty of Greenville/ Pickens County and the water flowing gracefully down South Saluda River attract people from near and far. The starting location is a short drive from Brevard, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight
    trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. This section of South Saluda River is 15 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this
general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The average South Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.

Dowthit Cove is close to South Saluda River and is beyond doubt a glorious place to check out; you're sure to encounter some great folks from Cleveland here. Caesars Head State Park is a splendid site to visit on a pretty day; Jones Gap State Park is both perfect and beautiful. This is such a great river. South Saluda River sees pretty high levels of rain. Throughout March this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is January. Summertime highs at South Saluda River frequently tend to be in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
