  The scenic beauty of McCormick Columbia County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The starting point is not too far from Augusta-Richmond County. A good workout and just being out on the river
    for a while will make you glad you came. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an
area with not too many other places for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Stevens Creek Dam to North Augusta Boat Ramp section is one of them. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Stevens Creek Dam to North Augusta Boat Ramp stretch of Savannah River in McCormick Columbia County  
is 5 miles long and is a class II(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.

Briefly about the general area:
Why not take a refreshing hike along the Turkey Creek Hiking Trail; you'll most likely meet some folks from Clarks Hill here. When you're here at Savannah River it's always fun to visit Hamilton Branch State Park, and Savannah River is right by the Horn Creek Hiking Trail. This river is so great. Savannah River typically gets much rain. The month with most of the rain is March, and November meanwhile is the driest month. High temperatures at Savannah River throughout the warm months are in the 90's.
