  The nature scenery of Pickens County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back
    for more. The campgrounds here at Sixmile Creek are pretty good. If you're coming from Seneca it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Lodging is available near
the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch of Sixmile Creek in South Carolina is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Jones Mill Road to Lake Issaqueena section  
is one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
Keowee-Toxaway State Park is a great place to stretch your legs a bit, and lots of folks from Six Mile come here. A good beach near Sixmile Creek is East Beach; places like Francis Marion-Sumter National Forests are splendid to stop by. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. Lots of rainfall falls at Sixmile Creek. March is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. At Sixmile Creek throughout the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's.
