  The scenic beauty of South Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. The Sandy Ford Access Road to Sandy Ford section of Whetstone Creek in South Carolina is 1.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III(V)
    section of whitewater. The campgrounds here at Whetstone Creek are pretty good. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is short
so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Seneca, please print out a copy  
of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Sandy Ford Access Road to Sandy Ford stretch is one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
Black Rock Mountain State Park is a splendid site to stretch your legs a bit, and going for a hike along the Chattooga Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Just can't get enough of the Blue Ridge Mountains. When you're here at Whetstone Creek it's always fun to stop by Oconee State Park; while you're here you can take a hike along the Bartram Trail.
