This section of Big Sioux River is 1 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other     good places for that around here. The put-in location is a short drive from Sioux Falls, as you can see on the road map further down. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The beautiful scenery of Minnehaha County and the cool fresh water beats anything. The Sioux Falls Park section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This is a very short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Briefly about the general area: Sioux Falls is always fun to check out, and Big Sioux Recreation Area is worth   taking a look at. During your spree to Big Sioux River you'll meet some folks from Sioux Falls for sure. A tour to Big Sioux River wouldn’t be complete without a visit to close by Lake Alvin Recreation Area. At Big Sioux River through the summer months highs are in the 80's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Big Sioux River. Around Big Sioux River you don’t get a lot of rain. Throughout June this area sees the most rain; January is when it's the driest.
