CLASS III-V+     8.5 miles
  This section of Big Brush Creek is 8.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V+ section by American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Chattanooga, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This stretch is mid length,
    it's good length for a morning trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're
whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The wild scenery of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is great. The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Big Brush Creek will make you feel great. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting some good  
exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people.

Briefly about the general area:
You're sure to stumble upon some nice folks from Dunlap here. A spree to South Cumberland State Park when you're here at Big Brush Creek is never a bad idea. Big Brush Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall. Of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain while October is typically the driest month. Throughout the days of summer here at Big Brush Creek, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's while nighttime lows are usually in the 60's.
