The starting point is not too far from Athens. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This is a somewhat short section     so no need to bring snacks. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The nature scenery of Tennessee and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains is a great   plus for this river. Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Conasauga Falls Trail; Kirkland Hollow is another good spot to check out nearby. So much fun stuff to do here in the Great Smoky Mountains, too good to be true. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Conasauga Creek; Conasauga Falls Trail is a tremendous local trail. Hiwassee/Ocoee Scenic River State Park is worth taking a look at if you're at Conasauga Creek; if you're going to from Tellico Plains, you won't be the only one. Conasauga Creek is a wet spot that gets much rain.
