  The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The beautiful scenery of Carter County and the water flowing gracefully down Doe River will make you feel great. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
    Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Crabtree to Blevins Bridge on Bear Gauge Road stretch is one of many

The Crabtree to Blevins Bridge on Bear Gauge Road stretch of Doe River in Tennessee is 4.6 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Johnson City, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This  
is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon.

Briefly about the general area:
A delightful place like Sycamore Shoals State Park right next door to Doe River is too great to leave out, and this is a popular spot for people from Roan Mountain. A trip to Doe River wouldn’t be complete without a spree to close by Roan Mountain State Park; a magnificent site close by is Johnson Hollow. This river is a wonderful place to visit. Going for a hike on the Laurel Fork Trail is always a nice adventure. Summertime highs at Doe River mostly tend to be in the 80's.
