The wonderful Cocke County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have     reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This stretch of French Broad is 18 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III section. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The river winds through the   Great Smoky Mountains and you get great scenery. The campgrounds here at French Broad are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the Meadow Creek Mountain Trail is perfect fun, and a journey to French Broad wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Sulphur Spring. Having a good time in the Great Smoky Mountains is easy. Have a good hiking adventure along the Gum Springs Trail, and French Broad is a location with many visitors from Del Rio. This river is a great place to visit. If you're here, you might as well take a look at Peach Orchard Gap; a short trip to Sulphur Spring is always worthwhile.
