Tennessee whitewater, Island Creek Morgan county, Catoosa Bridge to Emory River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV+     2 miles   This stretch of Island Creek in Morgan County is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV+ section. The wonderful Morgan County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There's camping available near Island Creek. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors     are sure to keep you coming back for more. The starting point is not too far from Harriman, as you can see on the road map further down. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Catoosa Bridge to Emory River section is one of them. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is wonderful. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no   problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Obed Wild & Scenic River is a good national park It's always tremendous to pop by Nemo Rapids. That right there is plenty of amusing things already but it goes on, the Cumberland Plateau Mountains has it all. Here at Island Creek you'll almost certainly meet some people from Oakdale. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Island Creek. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are usually in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Island Creek.
