The natural beauty of Morgan County and the water flowing gracefully down Island Creek have people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have     to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. This stretch of Island Creek is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Catoosa Road to Catoosa Bridge section is one of them. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty   of rivers for that. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: Here at Island Creek there are plenty of folks from Oakdale, and the panoramas at Obed Wild & Scenic River will blow your mind. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Summertime highs at Island Creek usually tend to be in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's with temperatures at Island Creek dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights.
