The beautiful scenery of Tennessee and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're coming from Crossville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end |
up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The wild

This section of Little Hurricane Creek in Overton/Fentress County is 1.5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. Briefly about the general area: Balden Gulf is a great location to visit nearby; Little Hurricane Creek is not far at all from Wilder. You clearly should fancy the Cumberland Plateau Mountains.
Little Hurricane Creek sees pretty high levels of rain. Of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain; October is when it's the driest.
