Tennessee whitewater, Little River - Middle Prong

Blount county, Lynn Camp and Thunderhead Prong Confluence to Tremont Institute section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV     3 miles
The wonderful Blount County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The average Tennessee whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The starting location is
a reasonable drive from Sevierville, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Little River - Middle Prong is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. There's
camping available near Little River - Middle Prong. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Lynn Camp and Thunderhead Prong Confluence to Tremont Institute section is just one of many. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. When you're
paddling down a Great Smoky Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Briefly about the general area:
Go for a hike on the Jakes Creek Trail, and don't miss out on a trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park since you're here. Whohoo, so much amusing stuff in one place! The Great Smoky Mountains is excellent! Going for a hike on the Meigs Mountain Trail is always a good adventure, and while you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Townsend.
