This section of Mullens Creek is 4 miles long and is a class IV-V(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that rivers     here are not as easy as elsewhere. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There are a few other stretches in this river system that   can be paddled as well. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Since you're here at Mullens Creek why not stop at Ditch Gap, and folks from Whiteside love to come here. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting things in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. You ought to visit Elder Point when you're here at Mullens Creek, and don't leave Mullens Creek without first going for a hike along the Skyuka Trail. This is such a great river. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Mullens Creek.
