  The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. If you're coming from Harriman it's not a long drive at all to the starting
    location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Zenith Mines to Leatherwood Ford stretch is one of them. Whitewater
paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section of North White Oak Creek in Tennessee is 7.8 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming  
back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

Briefly about the general area:
Places like Pickett State Park are splendid to check out; if you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby Elgin. If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Go for a hike on the Hidden Passage Trail, and if you feel like a little side journey, try Logging Hollow. This river is a great place to visit. Don't leave North White Oak Creek without first going for a hike along the Island Trail.
