This section of Obed River is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll     find a large number of good places. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Tennessee is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Lodging is available near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Adams Bridge to Potter's Ford stretch is just one of them. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus.   This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: Derrick Spring is a fine local attraction; during your visit here you'll meet some folks from Deer Lodge for sure. You simply must love the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Everybody loves Cumberland Mountain State Park. Throughout the summertime highs here at Obed River get into the 80's, and the night is a bit cooler of course, mostly in the 60's. Highs all through the wintertime are generally in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Obed River.
