Tennessee whitewater, Obed River Cumberland Morgan county, Obed Junction to Nemo section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-IV     10 miles   The Obed Junction to Nemo stretch of Obed River in Cumberland/ Morgan County is 10 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Cumberland/ Morgan County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Obed River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This is not the only paddling section in this river system,     there are others too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're coming from Harriman it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wild scenery of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is great. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the   great campgrounds nearby. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: You'll meet a lot of folks from Lancing here, and if you haven’t been to Obed Wild & Scenic River, you must schedule some time for it while you're here. So much fun stuff to do here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains, too splendid to be true. Ohmigod Rapids is a stunning spot to go to while you're at Obed River; a short trip to Rock Garden Rapids is always worthwhile.
