Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to     be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. This stretch of Obed River in Tennessee is 7 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came.   The natural beauty of Cumberland/ Morgan County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Nemo to Oakdale section is just one of them. The river winds through the Cumberland Plateau Mountains and you get great scenery. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: A journey to Obed Wild & Scenic River is recommended, and this is a popular site for people from Wartburg. All year is a glorious time in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains if you fancy the outdoors.
