The wonderful Tennessee scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Tennessee you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight     trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. This stretch of Piney River in Bledsoe Rhea County is 10.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV+ section. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either   way there are lots of good places for that around here. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Wash-Pelfrey Road to Spring City section is one of them. Briefly about the general area: There is a great hiking trail in close proximity to Piney River called the Laurel-Snow Trail, and the wonderful people of Evensville like to hang out close by. Having a great time in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is simple. Going for a hike on the Fooshee Pass Trail is always a good adventure. The warmest time of the year at Piney River comes with high temperatures in the 80's.
