Tennessee whitewater, Road Prong

Sevier county, Third bridge to right above West Prong confluence section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS V     0.72 miles
The starting point is not too far from Sevierville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The beautiful scenery of Sevier County and the water flowing gracefully down Road Prong
are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end
up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Third bridge to right above West Prong confluence section of Road Prong is 0.72 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This stretch is very short so no need to bring snacks. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large
number of good spots. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. Whitewater paddling here in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great experience.

Briefly about the general area:
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a great place right next door to Road Prong, and do put some time aside to spend at Rainbow Falls while you're here at Road Prong. Yeah, come up here to the Great Smoky Mountains for a delightful time. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Road Prong; Cove Mountain Trail is a nice local trail. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Ober Gatlinburg since you're here.
