The starting point is not too far from McMinnville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The natural beauty of Grundy County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll |
have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting some
| good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Tennessee tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is wonderful.

enjoyable things. Throughout the long summer days at Savage Creek highs are frequently in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. All through the winter highs are generally in the 40's with winter lows
in the 20's overnight here at Savage Creek. All the water falling down from the sky makes Savage Creek a wet location. March is the month that gets the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
