The Waucheesi to Tellico River section of Turkey Creek in Monroe County is 3 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Tennessee and the cool fresh water have people coming here. Not too     many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. When you're paddling down a Great Smoky Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The starting point is not too far from Athens, as you can see on the road map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This river system has   a few good paddling stretches and the Waucheesi to Tellico River section is one of them. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: It's always good to stop by Bald River Falls, and Turkey Creek is a site with many visitors from Tellico Plains. And that's not everything you can do here in the Great Smoky Mountains. Have a good hiking adventure along the Cow Camp Trail. A journey to Fort Loudoun State Park when you're here at Turkey Creek is a magnificent idea, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Henderson Mountain Trail.
