The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The beautiful scenery of Texas and the cool fresh water beats anything. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while     are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch of Barton Creek in Travis County is 5 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Lost Creek to Loop 360 section is just one of many. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Barton Creek without popping by McKinney Falls State Park; there are plenty of folks from Austin here at Barton Creek.   Good hiking is available along the Bee Creek Trail, and do put some time aside to spend at Back Door Spring while you're here at Barton Creek. This is such a great river. There's good hiking along the Turkey Creek Trail. Throughout the summertime, highs usually are in the 90's at Barton Creek, and the night is a little colder of course, regularly in the 70's. All through the winter highs are in the 50's; night lows at Barton Creek during the winter regularly descend into the 30's. From a rain point of view Barton Creek is a rather common spot. The month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is December.
