If you're coming from Austin-Round Rock it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time   outdoors will make you glad you came. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
