Texas whitewater, Brazos River Brazos county, Hidalgo Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II     0.2 miles   If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The beautiful scenery of Texas and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The campgrounds here at Brazos River are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other     paddling spots. The put-in is not too far from Brenham, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a very short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The Hidalgo Falls stretch of Brazos River is 0.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations   you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Near Brazos River you locate the Washington - on - the - Brazos State Historic Site Trail which is a good hiking trail; Brazos River is not far at all from Washington. A trip to Brazos River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Hidalgo Falls. At Brazos River through the summer months highs are in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 70's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 50's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Brazos River fall into the 30's.
