The Cayote to FM 2490 stretch of Childress Creek in Bosque McLennan County is 17 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. | runs in this state are very easy. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

Here at Childress Creek there are plenty of folks from Clifton, and Lake Whitney State Park is both magnificent and pretty. Childress Creek is right by the Lake Whitney State Park Hiking Trail.
