It seems that this creek is not so affected by normal rainfall. I went there after a few days of decent rain and got plenty of exercise dragging my kayak for about 2 miles before I threw in the towel. I was able to float about 250 ft of that 2 miles, so it was not a complete waste. I passed dams, rock formations and construction that definitely makes this creek look like a fun challenge after a complete deluge, but after a week of scattered |

showers the creek was about ankle deep. The water was clear, but there is tons of debris and trash and quite a few folk living along the creek in tents or other makeshift hovels. They seemed to be timid creatures. I could

If you're coming from Dallas -Fort Worth-Arlington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Texas scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. you might end up sleeping in your car. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The campgrounds here at Duck Creek are pretty good. This section of Duck Creek
