The South Main St to Pleasant Run Road section of Ten Mile Creek in Dallas County is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better     keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The nature scenery of Dallas County and the water flowing gracefully down Ten Mile Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the South Main St to Pleasant Run Road section is one of them. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular   destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: Cedar Hill State Park is a nice location to visit on a delightful day, and the nice folks of Desoto like to hang out close by. There are glorious places to look at along the Mountain Creek Lake Park Trail. Go for a hike on the Cedar Hill State Park Trail. The yearly rain here at Ten Mile Creek is about average. May is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Ten Mile Creek get into the 90's.
