  The beautiful scenery of Texas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. This section of Tonkawa Creek in McLennan County is 0.1 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Waco it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Texas is often easier than
    elsewhere, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come
because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good spots for that around here. This section is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There's  
camping available near Tonkawa Creek.

Briefly about the general area:
Tonkawa Creek is not far at all from Crawford, and Mother Neff State Park is both great and stunning. Hiking along the Mother Neff State Park Trail is perfect fun. Summer at Tonkawa Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 70's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 50's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Tonkawa Creek temperatures dip to the 30's. Tonkawa Creek is a good spot of normal rain. During the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is December.
