So far this has been the best river or creek at normal flow for me in the DFW area. I have only done around 10 or so, but this creek was definitely the most enjoyable. This is not a relaxing float, nor is it too crazy. It is a good flow although a bit shallow at times, but I only had to portage twice: once around a 10 foot dam near the bottom of the Prestonwood golf course which was challenging, and another 50' walk through a shallow flat |
area. There is plenty of small, fun rapids and some chutes around other dams. I put in at the Wagging Tail dog park and took out at Anderson Bonner Park near Medical City. Both put-in and take out were steep because DFW
| is pretty horrible with the river planning, but if you enjoy rapids this may be the best you can get locally at normal to slightly high flow. 3'' higher would have made it perfect. Says James B
Hi I tried to find the White Rock Creek take in off of Preston / Arapaho as per the directions and could not find it. Any other more detailed hints for my next attempt? Thanks! Says Sita
Not a bad run, a little shallow in places though. | |

Take out point requires dragging boat up a steep incline. Also there are lots of man made obstacles to avoid, sever man hole covers protruding from the bottom. There are also 2 manmade water falls that will sneak up on you.
