The scenic beauty of Utah and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The campgrounds     here at Little Cottonwood Creek are pretty good. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that many runs in this state are very easy. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Creek Road to I-15 section is one of them. The starting location is a short drive from Salt Lake City, as you can see on the road map further down. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Briefly about the general area: California National Historic Trail   is a good local destination here at Little Cottonwood Creek, and a visit to Jordan River State Park is a delightful idea. Little Cottonwood Creek is not far at all from Midvale. A journey to Little Cottonwood Creek wouldn’t be complete without a visit to close by This Is The Place State Park. Little Cottonwood Creek is pretty dried up generally. Most of the rain falls during April, and January is the month with the least moisture. At Little Cottonwood Creek during the long summer days highs are in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's.
