Utah whitewater, Provo River Wasatch Utah county, Deer Creek Reservoir to Utah Lake section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-IV     17.5 miles   There are several diversion dams that are located along this stretch: the first coming near Bridal Veil falls, the second (Murdock) near the mouth of the canyon, third at the mouth of the canyon at the old hydroelectric plant. Fourth as the river crosses under 2230 north street, and the last at Columbia Lane.  These will all require a take out and hike around. Says Todd This section of Provo River in Utah is 17.5 miles long and     it is classified as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Utah and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Utah is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Deer Creek Reservoir to Utah Lake section is one of them. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. When you're paddling down a Wasatch Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Great exercise   and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The put-in location is a short drive from Provo-Orem, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: Pole Canyon is in close proximity to Provo River and is a magnificent place, and what would winter be without some skiing at Sundance.
